Help our teachers rebuild!

The Education Foundation of Sarasota County has created the Hurricane Irma Classroom Relief Fund to help Sarasota County teachers restore their classrooms and focus on student learning.

Sarasota County was spared from much of the devastation originally expected by Hurricane Irma. Fourteen of the Sarasota County Schools operated as emergency shelters housing more than 19,000 evacuees and their pets, and the Education Foundation of Sarasota County was deeply inspired as we witnessed principals and teachers transition from their daily duties into emergency management personnel working countless hours to help our neighbors find shelter and safety.

Cleanup and maintenance are now top priority at each of these schools so that teachers and students can return to their classrooms on Monday, September 18, and we support Superintendent Dr. Todd Bowden’s effort to restore schools back to their full operational status.

To assist in the effort, the Education Foundation is seeking cash donations which will be used to purchase and replenish much needed classroom supplies. Many of the supplies were used during the storm and we know how much our teachers already personally contribute to their classrooms. Please help our teachers focus on our students and feel affirmed by our community.
